Moving a 107-year-old railroad depot

In 2015, we successfully relocated long beach's last railroad depot to willow springs park so that it could be saved from demolition.

In 2014, We Are the Next was hired by JR van Dijs, Inc. and the City of Long Beach to relocate the historic Southern Pacific depot. This 1907 building faced imminent demolition and was listed as endangered by Long Beach Heritage.

Over the course of a year, our team worked with municipalities and construction crews to attain permits and carry out preparation work on the building. Ultimately, this work led to the successful relocation of the building to Long Beach's Willow Springs Park so that it could be reused as a community center and civic venue.

The building is currently pending further work to be carried out in the 2016/17 fiscal year.
