Event Overview

Talk the Block is a community event series organized by We Are the Next where we tell stories about neighborhoods, places, and businesses that are often untold or overlooked. This Spring, we're excited to bring this event to the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach!

Bixby Knolls is a unique neighborhood filled with small and large businesses, Mid-Century architecture, and a bustling arts and brewery scene. This commercial district has seen big changes over the last several years, and to learn more about this transformation we're bringing together a range of business owners from the neighborhood.

Participants will hear from business owners at a community Q&A while enjoying breakfast courtesy of Lola's Mexican Cuisine and coffee from The Merchant. Following the morning's events, attendees will receive an exclusive scavenger hunt to independently explore some of the hidden gems throughout Bixby, complete with access to private residences and exclusive spaces!

All proceeds from this event, including ticket sales and sponsorships, support our programs at We Are the Next.

Note for Attendees

Attendees will need to check in before the event begins - we will have a check-in table inside the Expo Arts Center beginning at 9:45am. Breakfast provided by Lola's Mexican Cuisine, along with coffee provided by The Merchant, will be served at 10:00am and is included with each ticket.

This is going to be a fun opportunity to get to know Bixby Knolls, so purchase your ticket now! Ticket sales support We Are the Next, a nonprofit organization working to empower the next generation to engage with their city so their neighborhoods can thrive.
